ACT delivers the “Mediation as a Tool for Peacebuilding” training with the support of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs

ACT for Conflict Resolution launched a specialised training programme entitled “Mediation Basics”, within the “Mediation as a Tool for Peacebuilding” project and with the support of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, as part of strengthening the capacities of socially active young people to settle conflicts in peaceful and constructive ways.
The first session of the training opened with the lawyer Mohammad Hadiya, who gave a comprehensive introduction to the concepts of mediation and its practical foundations, along with a review of real-life applications reflecting the role of mediation in reducing conflicts and strengthening a culture of dialogue.
The training programme runs for 40 training hours within the basic mediation track and is aimed at a diverse range of young people, experts and people interested in mediation and peace. It seeks to strengthen negotiation skills, deepen conceptual understanding of mediation mechanisms, and provide participants with tools to accompany peace processes in a more professional and practice-based manner.
The training forms part of ACT’s strategy of establishing a culture of mediation as an effective tool for peacebuilding in Palestinian society, in cooperation with its international partners, in order to strengthen the values of tolerance, understanding and peaceful solutions to conflicts.
