ACT for Conflict Resolution organises a specialised training workshop on UN Security Council Resolution 2250 and youth advocacy tools

Ramallah – 13 June 2026: As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the role of young people in serving the public good, ACT for Conflict Resolution organised a specialised training workshop in Ramallah on “UN Security Council Resolution 2250, the National Plan for Security and Peace, Strategic Development, and Network Building and Advocacy”, as part of the “Mediation as a Tool for Peacebuilding” project.

The training brought together 17 young participants, with the aim of moving the role of young people from formal and passive participation to active and influential participation in decision-making and public policy, and of providing them with practical tools for designing advocacy campaigns capable of mobilising the community and having a real influence on decision-making.

The workshop, which ran over two hours, covered core themes: the steps for selecting priority community issues, gathering information from human rights and official sources, and analysing the surrounding social and political context. Several issues were worked on as a practical model for advocacy mechanisms from an integrated rights-based and community perspective, in order to cover the practical side of the training.

Participants also went deeper into skills for building popular and personal coalitions and for drawing up an interactive map of networks to identify the roles and interests of stakeholders, in order to lead organised collective efforts that ensure young people’s messages and demands are conveyed forcefully and effectively.

The workshop concluded with a set of important recommendations, foremost among them the need to build on these outputs by organising follow-up meetings and deeper practical training to help youth groups design and launch short-term advocacy initiatives on the ground, while taking into account improvements to logistical arrangements and the widening of partnerships to ensure that this youth impact is sustained.

These activities fall within the “Mediation as a Tool for Peacebuilding” project, implemented by ACT for Conflict Resolution as part of efforts to strengthen a culture of dialogue, mediation and community peacebuilding in Palestine.
